Rock the Shot January 2014 Photo Challenge

This month’s photo challenge over at Rock The Shot (www.rocktheshotforum.com) was ‘Favorite Shot of 2013’. It was really hard deciding but this is my favorite image of this past year! Every year, I do a little photo session each each of my kids for their birthday. My daughter was turning 7 this year. She loves long dresses, flowers, and feeling like a princess! The dress is from Dollcake Oh-So-girly, whom I adore!

This image was shot on a Nikon D600 with a 50mm prime. Settings were as follows: ISO 200, f/2.5, SS 1/200.

A lot of what you see on my feed are flowy dresses and outfits styled a little more traditionally for photos, but your session can look however your family looks and feels best. Whether that’s barefoot babies, denim, sneakers, oversized tees, or the outfits you already reach for every day.

You never have to choose something from my client wardrobe if it doesn’t feel like you. I want your photos to reflect your real family — your connection, your personalities, and this season exactly as it is.

This session at Highlands Ranch Mansion was so much fun to photograph!

I always love shooting here because it is such a beautiful and versatile location. Between the gardens, the architecture, and all the different little spots around the property, it photographs so beautifully every single time.

My 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧, and the gardens should be blooming within the next month which is always my favorite time of year here.
